About
What is this?
This is an experiment. It is a presentation of a whole mess of things for people to look for in Japan, ranging from the ordinary to the rare, from the mundane to the difficult-to-explain.
This is also a sub-site of Somewhere in Japan, a Japan-centric blog that isn’t updated enough and still hasn’t figured out what it wants to be when it grows up.
Who is it for?
It’s for people in Japan, visitors and residents alike. It’s for anyone who is interested in wandering around, going out to see what they can see. It’s for anyone wanting to navigate their surroundings with attention paid to more than just what’s obviously in front of them.
It’s also for people not in Japan, for anyone who might find it interesting to get a sense of what might be stumbled upon in the course of an afternoon walk in the city or a trek through the countryside, whether that’s with an eye to a future visit or through virtual means (Google Earth, etc).
How do I use it?
Look around. Search for specific things if you want, browse posts chronologically, or just go from one random thing to another.
Really, you can use it however you like. Just don’t break it.
Can I help?
If you want to, sure. Head on over to the Contribute page to learn more. You can also go to the Contact page if that’s more your speed.
